Not the end of the world, but God resisteth the proud!

Dear Fellow Americans, Friends of Christ & Liberty:

What has happened today, September 11, 2001, at the Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon is not the end of the world. No, it was not prophesied 2,000 years ago! These terrorist activities are not signs of the coming of Christ, notwithstanding what sensationalist will certainly claim. Misguided theology only makes matters worse. God resisteth the proud!What we have witnessed as a nation is the righteous hand of God turning America over to her enemies. The Trade Center in New York and Pentagon in Washington symbolize America's economic and defense centers, respectively.

Far too long Americans have boasted about being the world's one and only superpower. Comments so familiar to many that echo "I am proud to be __________ has, in part, brought this tragedy. Why? Scripture plainly says: "God resisteth the proud!" "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." James 4:6-10.

Also, 1 Peter 5: 5-9, "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."

When ancient Israel sinned against the most high, God turned them over to their enemies. Judges 3:7-8, "And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves. 8 Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years."

America has officially rejected Almighty God. Officially we have boasted about our superior national defense systems, thinking we were invincible. What arrogance! As has been mentioned, God resisteth the proud. Atheism is the official position in America, since the early 60's. Psalms 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God." The most our president could offer at the time of the horrific catastrophe was a minute of silence. Silence will not help us.

Here is the Scriptural answer: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Friends, let us call to memory these passages of Holy Scripture:

Job 22:25 Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

Psalms 7:10 My defence [is] of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

Psalms 59:9 [Because of] his strength will I wait upon thee: for God [is] my defence.

Psalms 59:16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Psalms 59:17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God [is] my defence, [and] the God of my mercy.

Psalms 89:18 For the LORD [is] our defence; and the Holy One of Israel [is] our king.

Psalms 94:22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God [is] the rock of my refuge.

All across our once great nation, after school activities have been cancelled due to the attacks. That is good. At times like theses priorities are quickly altered.

It is our humble prayer to Almighty God that we as a nation shall repent of our individual evils. May our gracious LORD comfort the bereaving in New York, Washington, and the many families that have lost loved ones as a result of the hijacked airplanes of United Flight 93 and United Flight 175. God help the rescuers to do their unenviable job.

In times like these we truly need to seek the face of our LORD. We are not worthy of any of HIS mercies. Nevertheless, let us come humbly into HIS presence confessing our sins and gladly receiving HIS forgiveness. May God uphold the righteous and uproot the wicked.
