Land Cruiser FJ 40 Description

Edit April 19, 2003. Wow this page is outdated! I haven't done a good job of keeping the info current and now have to decide how to separate the mods that have been updated or replaced, and the newest stuff. I am working on something pretty big right now and WILL get the pics up and pages current as soon as I unveil it.

Here are some of the details of my Cruiser.

It was a Light Blue (maybe Horizontal Blue, the id plate is long gone), 1968 FJ40. In July of 99 I swapped the original F motor and 3 speed transmission with a  79 2f and 4 speed transmission keeping the 3 speed transfer case. It has been stored inside since I got it in 1994 and hasn't seen much rain (except GSMTR the last couple of years!) or snow. The previous owner had it repainted by a bonehead sometime before I got it. I purchased it from a used car lot which didn't have a clue what it really was and didn't have any historical info on the vehicle. This vehicle has never failed to start, and has never left me stranded.

I keep changing things so fast I can't keep up with the pics! Here's a a shot from Fall of 2002.
As much as wish I could document all the mods, I have just done a terrible job of it. It is far more fun to wrench and fab than write and snap! Check back for my web progress occasionally to see if I'm improving.

Some upgrades, repairs and modifications I have done are listed below. Some pictures are not be updated yet, (I'll get around to it) like the motor shots, a combination of the original "F" motor and the swapped "2F". As new mods are completed or changes have been made I have edited the items below.  My interests have changed and I am no longer concerned about body damage or looks. It's all about getting there without tears!

Fall of 2002 something made me decide to trim some weight. Hahahaha, must have been the need to be competitive in the ERoCC Legends Series. With the help of a bunch of good people I was the series Champion. Thanks to all of you!
