Phillip's Constructive Social Engagement Web Pages
Welcome! I hope my site about awareness, tolerance,
understanding and encouraging involvement will
interest you. I think we are all responsible for the world
and I want to know other people who feel the same.

Getting Around
Sometimes when you click on gallery button (globe) a sub-site will appear. Clicking on the Brazil 'Social Programs' Subsite globe, for example, brings up such a sub-site. Explore all the galleries. Notice also that hyperlinks to various galleries have been provided in the upper frame to make navigation easier and more convenient.
You can select articles I authored, or co-authored, for Los Angeles based Brazzil (correct spelling) Magazine,
or other publications from the left frame. Use the scroll bar to move up and down until you find something that interests
you. NOTE - Philip Mizewski is a pen-name for me.
Site Philosophy
More can be accomplished more easily, and at less expense, to achieve global equality, prosperity, security, and tranquility
by proactively addressing the reasonable wants, justifiable grievances and recognizable needs of people living on the
margins of society. Noone should be expected to dedicate their lives to alleviate the suffering of others. But, for anyone
who would wish for a better world, standing on the sidelines is not an option. In our world the seeds of discontent, violence,
instability and conflict are sown in the soil of ignorance, hopelessness, frustration, bitterness, fear, anger and despair.
If little or nothing is done, then little or nothing will change. If we always wait until a potential problem becomes a crisis
then our burden will forever seem more than we should have to bear. Informing people, and encouraging people to become
constructively involved in improving the lives of others, will help to lessen the risks we all face together, and will help
us all to more fully realize our potential and our dreams.
Mission Statement
To enhance the quality of lives through collaboration, facilitation and support while enhancing understanding
via the development and maintenance of an informative and balanced website.
Vision
To achieve the mission of enhancing understanding through collaboration while encouraging involvement
by more and more people as visitors become inspired to act and later inspire others to do the same.
Motto and Honored Motto
Motto: Lets leave the world better than we found it. Honored Motto: The motto of the Freechild Project at http://www.freechild.org/, "Only through actions do words take power."
About Phillip
I grew up in Indiana but served in the Vietnam conflict and otherwise traveled in Asia and participated in post-typhoon flood relief in the Philippines. In the 1980s I organized an international relief campaign and, of course, have been focusing on Brazil for some years now. But I've also put in many years as a freelance journalist.
In a 26 year career at EDS I instructed risk and process management concepts classes in the U.S., Canada and Brazil.
In 2004 I entered graduate school at Indiana University (IU) following the untimely 2002 end of my career at EDS, and founded Rhythm of Hope in Brazil (ROHB). ROHB was a natural outgrowth of the relationship building and other Brazil related activities I had already been undertaking. In 2005 I was awarded a small travel and research grant from the IU Project on African Expressive Traditions (POAET). I also that year produced a 23 minute Rhythm of Hope in Brazil video that you may view from my Video Clips web page, accessible by clicking on the hyperlink in the upper frame.
In June of 2006 I received an MA from IU. At this time I am continuing post-graduate studies at IU, but I would consider possible employment.
